Phoenix Award Winner for Reconstruction!

Lightening struck this historical church and the resulting fire created additional damage in the church's interior. Water used to extinguish the fire created even more damage. The sanctuary interior components had to be completely removed.

Everyone at the church, including the congregation, chose to make a negative a positive: while the original charm of the 100+ year-old Friedens would be maintained, much needed updates would be part of the restoration. Some of the project challenges/changes included:

• making the sanctuary more user friendly by providing wheelchair access and seating for those with mobility difficulties
  
• providing as much seating as possible while complying with current codes
  
• incorporating a new audio-video design and sound system
  
• preserving and restoring as much of the original millwork, plaster details and beautiful stained glass as possible
