Behind the Scenes: Matterport Technology

Kelmann Matterport Behind the Scenes

Do you ever wonder about what goes into a property restoration project? How do we at Kelmann Restoration “do what we do?” It takes the talents of many dedicated people, the drive to do the best work possible, and the tools provided by the latest technologies in the industry. At Kelmann, we are committed to all three of those areas. Today, we’ll take you “behind the scenes” of how we use one technology, in particular, to help our clients and our construction teams alike.

Meet Matterport

Matterport is a 3D-scanning and image capture software that we use to create a 3D model of a building or space. The Matterport camera creates an interactive walkthrough experience so we can see the scope of a project and document property damage in incredible detail. It also produces photos and floor plans.

See For Yourself

Have you ever been to our Wauwatosa office? This Matterport video is a quick capture of the Kelmann Restoration headquarters. (If you’ve never been: Welcome!)

How Does Matterport Help Us?

Adjusters and estimators are able to utilize a Matterport scan to create a scope of work for a project without ever stepping foot on site. (This is especially helpful during this unprecedented Covid-19 era.) We can document loss and estimate repairs with incredible accuracy. They are able to take measurements from the virtual space, create floor plans, take a guided tour and add notes along the way. Matterport is a technology that prioritizes efficiency, accuracy and – best of all – safety.

For clients, they can easily view the full damage and details of their property, and have amazing reference points for before, during and after their project is completed. They can follow along with Kelmann and our process. It helps clients understand exactly what has happened, and exactly what Kelmann is going to do to help.
