Wauwatosa, WI, Dehumidifier Fire Restoration
What Happened
A dehumidifier caught fire in the basement of a Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, home (it’s more common than you might think). The fire caused smoke damage to the main level of the home, with soot reaching all the way to the second floor. The family called Kelmann and we were able to help the homeowners through all phases of their project.
What We Did: Fire Damage Restoration Services
The Kelmann Restoration emergency response team arrived at the home and immediately got to work cleaning the home after the fire department completed their work. From there, our fire damage restoration process kicked in.
First, our Contents Restoration department was brought in. Possessions, furniture and all items from the entire home were carefully logged, packaged, and transported to our state-of-the-art Contents facility in New Berlin, WI. The contents were cleaned and stored while our Mitigation and Reconstruction teams got to work back at the Wauwatosa project site. Kelmann crews demoed all of the damaged areas, knocked down walls to create an open concept, and remodeled many areas of the home, including the kitchen and a bathroom. The results are both true to the home’s original character, and a refreshing, modern update.
